Overview

Studying at INTO University of Exeter

Foundation Programme for International Students

This is a full-time intensive programme for students aged 17 or over who have completed secondary education and intend to study at a University in the UK. Successful students will reach the level required, in English and their subject area, for entry onto undergraduate courses, and will be awarded an Exeter University Foundation Certificate. The programme runs for 9 months from October to June each year.

Graduate Certificate in Management (with English)

This Graduate Certificate aims to give an introduction to modern management. It is designed as a university qualification in business management; and it can also function as a pre-Master's course. You can take this course to improve your English, or if your English is already adequate for academic study in English, you can study management only. You will find the course a valuable preparation for the study of business management at Masters’ level. If you pass the course at a good level, you are guaranteed a place on Masters’ courses in business or finance at the University of Exeter.

Other Oct-June Courses

University English Language Course

You will be taught by highly experienced and qualified staff. The size of the class depends on the module you are taking but on average there are 12-14 students in a group. You will be tested on entry and interviewed to find out your level and your particular needs in English. You will then be placed in an appropriate class, and your progress will be monitored throughout the course. Great care is taken to make sure that individual needs are met, and all students have a personal tutor with whom any problems can be discussed.

At the end of your course, you will receive an Attendance Certificate and a detailed Report on your abilities in English.

About the INTO Exeter Centre

The Centre is a pleasant building in the centre of the university campus. It has 11 newly renovated classrooms with a light and airy feel. Up-to-date audio-visual equipment enables teachers to use a variety of interesting techniques for teaching English. There is a dedicated computer room for INTO students, where they can develop their language skills by using the special software and web-based programmes and there is also an Independent Learning Centre with a selection of printed and audio materials. Digital T.V. is also available with 30 channels. Wireless internet access is provided throughout the Centre.

The INTO reception provides an informal meeting place, where students can sit and relax and read the daily newspapers between classes. A social programme is also organised, which includes evening activities and weekend excursions to places of cultural interest.
