Study at a UK top 20 university in the heart of the UK with a prestigious GREAT Scholarship, covering £10,000 towards tuition fees.

In partnership with the British Council and the GREAT Britain Campaign, The University of Nottingham is offering 3 scholarships to students in Indonesia and Malaysia applying for postgraduate courses. The School of Law will also be offering 1 scholarship to one student from India to study a postgraduate course within the School of Law.

The GREAT Scholarships 2023 programme, launched by the British Council together with 49 UK universities, supports postgraduate students from Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Thailand, Turkey and Vietnam to access world-class UK higher education opportunities.

The scholarship programme offers financial support of a minimum of £10,000 to students pursuing one-year postgraduate study in the UK. Students can apply for courses in a range of subjects, at the 49 institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The University of Nottingham GREAT Scholarships are open to applications for most postgraduate taught courses for Indonesia and Malaysia. Applicants from India are only eligible if applying for the postgraduate Law programme. Please see the eligibility section for a full list of courses and exclusions. We have one award available for each country, with the exception of Indonesia which will receive two awards this year. All awards will be paid as a tuition fee deduction.

Please note that applicants for the GREAT Scholarship must be passport holders of India, Indonesia, or Malaysia.

Please note that you must have an academic offer to start a full-time masters at the University of Nottingham before you can apply for the scholarship. For more information on the GREAT Scholarships 2023.

Eligibility

To apply for this scholarship, you must:

  • be a national (passport holder) of Indonesia, Malaysia or India (Note Indian applicants can only apply for courses within the School of Law)

  • be classed as an overseas student for fee purposes

  • hold an offer to start a full-time masters (excluding MRes) at the University of Nottingham's UK campuses in September 2023

  • fit the British Council’s profile of a GREAT Scholar

If you are an Indian student applying for the School of Law's GREAT scholarship, please note that you must apply to and receive an offer for one of the following courses:

  • GREAT India - Justice and Law courses only

  • LLM Criminal Justice

  • LLM European Law

  • LLM Human Rights Law

  • LLM International Criminal Justice and Armed Conflict

  • LLM International Commercial Law

  • LLM International Law and Development

  • LLM International Law

  • LLM Law

  • LLM Public International Law

  • LLM Public Procurement Law and Policy

  • MA Social Science Research (Socio-Legal Studies)

You may also qualify to apply for one our regional postgraduate scholarships. You can apply for these as well as the GREAT Scholarship, but if you are awarded a GREAT Scholarship you will not be selected for a regional scholarship as well.
