02 December 2021

‘A source of strength not of weakness’: 120 years of Law at Aberystwyth - Wednesday 8th December 1pm ET (6pm BST)

Aberystwyth University is pleased to invite you to their virtual event on Wednesday, December 8th at 1pm ET, to celebrate their Law department's anniversary.

The Department of Law, now the Department of Law and Criminology is 120 years old. It has had a rich and varied history and has made a significant contribution to legal research and teaching in Wales, the United Kingdom and beyond. This presentation will discuss some of the key periods during its history and some of the staff and students who have contributed to its many achievements. It is part of a larger project involving a history of the Department to be published by the University of Wales Press.

Ranked 38th in the Times University Guide 2022, Aberystwyth University is home to nearly 2,000 international students. The town is dominated by the vast expanse of Cardigan Bay, and the beach is enjoyed by students as a place of relaxation in the summer, and at other times of the year, the sea is ideal for surfing and sailboarding. The cost of living in Aberystwyth is amongst the lowest in the UK.
