Studying Law at Southampton - Law School Open Day (Toronto)

On Tuesday, May 30th, 2023 from 4.30 pm - 5.30 pm ET, SI-UK welcomes representative Dr. Michael Da Silva from the University of Southampton Law School into our Toronto Office for a Law student Open Day. Dr. Da Silva will present to interested students as well as offer a Q&A session with prospective students and/or offer holders.

Academic Profile:

Michael Da Silva is a Lecturer at the Southampton Law School. His diverse interests are connected by a desire to understand the philosophical foundations of social rights and the best methods for realizing these rights. His methodological commitment to viewing philosophical and empirical components of rights analysis as necessarily connected leads him to draw on domestic and transnational legal doctrine, philosophy, and empirical research methods in his analyses. His first book, The Pluralist Right to Health Care: A Framework and Case Study (Toronto: the University of Toronto Press, 2021), applies this approach. 

Michael has published in law, philosophy, and bioethics. His articles appeared in journals including the Osgoode Hall Law Journal, the Michigan Journal of International Law, Public Health Ethics, Social Theory and Practice, and the Journal of Value Inquiry. He wrote the entry on ‘federalism’ for Philosophy Compass and recently co-edited a special issue of Bioethics.

Dr. Micheal Da Silva is looking forward to speaking to students interested in studying Law at this hugely popular south-coast university. Both offer holders and those that are just interested in learning more about Southampton are encouraged to attend.
