Speaker profile -  Johanne Thompson

Johanne Thompson is a graduate of the University of Kent. She completed her LLM in Law at Kent.

She convenes and teaches criminal law to LLB students, advanced criminal law to Senior Status and Joint Honours students and also Certificate in Law Route to LLB (CiL) students. She convenes and teaches Performing Effectively in Law to CiL students.

She is Deputy Director of Education for stage 1, Director for Value and the stage 2 Revision Conference. She is also Deputy Director of Admissions with Canadian responsibilities.  

Her undergraduate teaching responsibilities span across Criminal Law and Advanced Criminal Law, Performing Effectively in Law and Client Interviewing Skills.

Speaker profile - Laura Charleton

Laura Charleton has over ten years of experience in higher education, convening law modules specifically designed for non-law students. These modules introduce non-lawyers to the English legal system, the sources of law and the law of evidence.

Previously Laura was a Barrister, specializing in criminal trial advocacy for both the prosecution and the defence in the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts. Her practice also included civil litigation and family disputes.

Her undergraduate teaching responsibilities span Evidence, Forensic Science, Family law and Legal Process.
