There are different options for studying law in the UK and an online LLB is one of these options. An online LLB is offered by a small number of universities in the UK and so our consultants are often asked whether this is an option for Canadian students who wish to study at a UK law school.
Can I do an online LLB in the UK?
Whilst it is technically possible for students to do an online LLB, these programmes do not satisfy the in-person study requirements mandated by the National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) which states that all candidates must complete two years of in-person instruction.

Returning to Canada after an Online LLB
This means that if you returned to Canada with an online LLB qualification, you would need to complete an additional two years of in-person study, often making this process far more costly, as well as time-consuming, than just doing a 3-year in-person LLB. In the UK you have the option of both a 3-year and 2-year LLB.
The NCA provides the following recommendations for ways in which you can complete the in-person study requirement:
Two one-year course-based LL.M. programs. If you choose this option, you could complete a course-based LL.M. at any approved law school in any common law jurisdiction.
One two-year course-based LL.M. program.
Courses in a common-law J.D. or LL.B.
